Baseball is back on the field, but none of us forget what we just went through. Nobody forgets that the system didn’t change for the better or that the owner still isn’t spending, but it’s also time to realize at some point baseball on the field takes precedence.
We want baseball and they just got it done.
Now, let’s see if I have 5 thoughts in the old noodle!
I always try to simplify this stuff for you, and tonight will be no different, but simplifying the stances isn’t the same as pretending the solutions are simple.
Well everyone, it’s hard to believe, but here we are on the last day of February in 2022 already. Normally, I’d already have heard stories from friends checking out Spring Training ballgames, and we’d have already argued about who should win the outfield spots up for grabs. Instead, we’re debating which major faction of baseball hates the game worse.
Well, I can’t and won’t sit here and tell you it’ll be productive, but this week sure promises to be newsy. Either way, the business of baseball marches on.
Just about every year I see today, Valentine’s Day, as the ramp up to Spring Training. It’s also my Birthday, so usually I’m showered with Pirates gear but this year, the news is so dark on MLB most chose to just avoid it.
The game of baseball is in crisis mode and knowing it was coming, predicting the contentiousness does little more than give some people that do what I do opportunity to pat ourselves on the back.
Long story short, I don’t feel we’re in danger of missing a significant chunk of the regular season, but I do think we’re going to lose something
The Player’s Union and MLB are meeting today and there is reportedly going to be a players counter proposal coming to the table. Again, this isn’t going to end this evening with two fake happy looking guys pretending they agree on everything. Just another step.
