The 2021 Major League Season is off and running, and the Pirates sit a few under .500 just 29 games in. While some guys such as Adam Frazier, Colin Moran, and a few others are off to a good start, most are playing to expectations. As predicted there will be a lot of losing at 1500 Federal Street this year.
I have readers and listeners that span the spectrum of Pirates fandom. From those who say they just want to keep an eye on the team while making sure none of their money winds up in Bob Nutting’s pocket to fans who wouldn’t miss a minute and simply don’t want to hear about the owner in any capacity.
Well, I’m here to tell you, while I think this is the best method, they certainly didn’t have to go this way. I should also warn you, I’m a team building process geek in case you couldn’t tell, and I find the different methods out there fascinating. Let’s look at some other ways the Bucs could have gone and see if after that you agree with what they’ve done, or think another method would have been better.
If you want to be lazy about it or ‘funny’ go ahead and say bad. But I’m talking about what type of team it looks like they’re building toward for the window. There are some factors beyond money we’ll talk about and we’ll discuss the type of talent that has been brought in as well as what was already here.
